SYNOPSIS: Ko Byeong-hee
is a senior writer for an infamous men's magazine. In fact,
her boss mentions that Miss Ko, as he likes to call her, writes
about 90 percent of the magazine. She is 33, has never been
in a relationship, and still pines for her Sunbae, a teacher
she has met in college.
Park Cheol-su is 24, the younger brother of Byeong-hee's best
friend, has recently returned from a backpacking trip abroad
and starts working again in a nearby motor shop.
Since Byeong-hee and Cheol-su grew up together, they treat
each other as brother and sister. That is, until one fateful
day, when Byeong-hee spirals into depression and self pity
when she is diagnosed with a tumor in her uterus and Cheol-su
is trapped into spending the night with her.
REVIEWS: This is your
non-traditional love story and it tackles the controversial
issue of how a big age gap can be a factor in a relationship.
Byeong-hee is 9 years older than Cheol-su and the first half
of series focuses on her internal struggle on how to deal
with Cheol-su's affection for her. The latter half shows the
audience if a relationship between an older woman and a much
younger man can ever be accepted by the society.
I found this series very enjoyable because of Ko Hyun Jung's
wonderful acting as Ko Byeong-hee and Chun Jung Myung's role
as the charming Park Cheol-su. The lead charactes are well
developed and you can actually watch them mature and change
their perspectives and feelings throughout the series.
Another interesting love story is the relationship of Byeong-hee's
sister, Ko Jun-hee, with a man who is 12 years older than
her. As this starts off with a business proposition but turns
out to be much deeper as Jun-hee starts to care deeply for
this man.
This series has a good mix of funny and touching moments.
And you will sympathize with Byeong-hee's character as she
realizes that her dreams and fantasies are nothing compared
to the reality of true love.
